Editing: blog task

Your final analytical blog task is to find a film or television clip on YouTube that you feel has been edited in a distinctive way and write a 750 word analysis of the clip. This clip begins with a set up that subtly introduces all of the sequences major elements. The shot starts moving left which introduces a lady going in for a swim and a boy playing fetch with his dog which is important for later. The colour coding of the boys shirt is used through the sequence in a deliberate way.  Then the camera changes direction moving right which is a reversal which forces emphasis on the young boy it's as though Spielberg is trying to tell the audience that this is what you should be focusing on as it the colour coding the the boys shorts is deliberate it's all part of a subconscious suspense initiation and a colour like red has connotations of violence death and even love but in this case it's nothing romantic. The camera continues to move with boy as if Spielberg intention is to ...

Editing video feedback and learner response

  1) Type up your feedback/comments from your teacher. This goes a long way beyond the brief but there is so much to credit-the cross cutting at the start is phenomenal. It communicates exactly what the rest of the narrative will deal with. I actually think the dialogue/language is the weakest bit of this, it's just not necessary and without it you'd have a really powerful production. There's no need to add the comedy! In amongst the rest of it, some excellent match on action and shot/reverse shot/180 rule here.  2) Type up your feedback from fellow students. WWW: Great flashbacks Good match on action Great use of sound  Good match on action good editing/sound  Funny audios  Great outro match on action  180 the sound and music was good transition from the stairs to the flashbacks was really good and smooth  Lamar flashback scenes everything Editing narrative   EBI: Too much swear words Cassius falling down for too long  starting ope...

Cinematography blog tasks video and LR

  1) Type up your feedback/comments from your teacher. The pacing of the video was appropriate keeping the audience engaged throughout. The video needs improvement in explaining different types of shots making it accessible to both beginners and more seasoned filmmakers I appreciated the creative shots showcased in the video which added an extra layer of interest. 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students. good camera work  go od transition good music good camera shots well edited good costume use such as the mask good actors nice picture at the end. It could be more lighter instead of dark   3) Now reflect on your work and write your own summary of the comments and feedback you have received. Write  three  WWWs and  three  EBIs. I could of made it lighter and more clear whats happening in the shot and i could of put the music lower good camera work editing and acting  4) L earner response: think about what you  learned about cinemat...

Cinematography: blog analysis tasks

  1) Write an analysis of the cinematography in the opening sequence.  Highlight  your use of media language and try to cover camera shots, angles and movement using the terminology we have learned in lessons.  The opening scene consists of medium shots, close ups long shots, close ups low angles, high angles, extreme close-up towards the eye at the end of the shot, long shots, hand held shots, pan shots  2) How does the camerawork give the audience clues about the setting, narrative and character? It gives the idea of the medium shot of the people on the sofa could all be brothers or friends. Towards the end when it zoomed into the person eye which was a extreme close up could suggest that he is the main character which is clear and it has the title of the show and zooms right in you can also talk about the placement of the shot of him being in the middle of the shot which can relate to the title which is Malcolm in the middle we can use this to suggest that ...
