Sound analysis: blog tasks

  1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: Diegetic and non-diegetic sound Parallel and contrapuntal sound Sound bridges Remember to discuss/analyse all the different types of sound present in the clip: Music Dialogue Voice over Sound effects   This ain't a film clip but it works! The Diegetic sound could be when the the characters in the game voice overs come when they are killing the zombies for example "what goes up must come down" that could be the example as the video cuts to zombies being thrown up in the air and then proceeds to fall down. The non-diegetic sound could be the sound playing over which is an upbeat pace song which fits in with the environment the voice overs when naming all the character could be a diegetic and non diegetic sound. The music itself can be parallel which is upbeat music killing zombies which fits perfect and a...

Sound:Parallel and Contrapuntal feedback and learner response

1) Type up your feedback from your teacher. Teachers feedback:  Superb choice of music and clips-the opening is so effective it's almost parallel but genuinely made me laugh out loud showing it meets the brief perfectly. Perhaps the switch to parallel could of been a little bit more obvious-Perhaps the darkness and the positioning of the actor meant it took a couple of seconds to catch up. Minor technical element-only export a minute! check your timeline before exporting. 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback.    Class feedback: WWW: Song choice was good parallel and contrapuntal clips sit  WWW: Amazing,Brilliant both scenes from parallel and contrapuntal matched sound very well.  EBI: Shift between contrapuntal and parallel was too sudden and fast  WWW: Good editing and clips choice  EBI: if it wasn't 3 minutes  WWW: Brilliant transition  EBI: could use more...

Your dedication to practical work is fantastic and will make such a difference for the 30% coursework element. However, there is also some unfinished work here so we need to use this as a lesson in getting work fully complete. EBI: Make sure you check the following and email me when everything is fully complete/published: Reflect on your first month of Film & TV Language. What aspect of Film & TV language have you most enjoyed studying? What is your strongest piece of work so far? What is your weakest? What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop before we start coursework at the end of Year 12? I enjoyed studying film posters and i believe my fight club recreation is my strongest piece of work. My weakest has to be film poster analysis. I need to develop my exam skills and getting my blog posted on time. For my coursework i should develop...

Mise-en-scene video feedback and learner response

WWW: Challenging scene to recreate- this is seriously impressive costume clearly considered but the best part of this is actor placement, movement and expression. superb performances! EBI: Audio levels and background noises. In terms of setting, people in the background at times but this is always with challenge with media production work.  2) Type up a summary of the feedback you have had from the rest of the class - bullet points is fine. W WW: Good costumes props camera angles and location  EBI: The sky looked odd audio levels  inconsistent WWW: camera angles really good-tilted angles included costume and accent EBI: sky look a bit unrealistic punches were soft-background noise blocked speech a bit WWW: close up shots voice acting  EBI: punches didn't look realistic WWW: good acting costumes displayed characters props-bottles good facial expression EBI: lighting could of been better voice muffled background noise ...
